I'd give so many more stars if I possibly could! We were so very pleased with the entire Rescon Basement Solutions experience. Bob came to our house and assessed our basement/bulkhead wall issues. We were involved in any decisions and were given a very honest, complete quote and a scheduled date for the work to be done. Unfortunately, before the scheduled date, we had a very heavy rain and water poured into our basement. Bob from Rescon gave us advice on how to handle that and Alexa was able to move the work date up to help us out of a big jam. Patrick, Jake and Tim arrived promptly to get the work started. They were very professional and explained absolutely everything they were going to be doing. They set up plastic tarps to keep the rest of our basement clean and did a fantastic job. When they completed the work, they went over all of the new equipment and explained everything to us. We were happy with every part of this project. Cannot recommend Rescon enough!!!!

—SEE UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM— Writing this negative review on Google is the last thing I wanted to do, but it seems to may be my last option to either help others avoid my fate or encourage Corporate to get involved. I’m giving Groundworks/Bay Area Underpinning (BAI) two stars. That is only for: estimator Nick Picardal who came out to investigate my concerns on July 14, provided me a quote, and then tried to connect me to his Project Manager; the professionalism displayed by Mark Lane (corporate??) following a call to the national phone number July 31; and for the repeated attempts of Field Inspector Darren Breen to get ANYONE above him to do SOMETHING. I have now been dealing with the local Groundworks office since July 14, (over three months), and I don’t think it is asking too much to ask someone to simply contact me to discuss the quotation they provided for work to address my sinking foundation. I spent thousands of dollars in 2018 to have their company (previously Bay Area Underpinning) correct my foundation, but now I can’t get anyone besides an estimator to even discuss the issues and quote! I have compiled detailed notes and dates on all my attempts to contact and discuss this project with someone and I’m happy to share those with management if there is any question as to my patience or perceived exaggeration here. Bottom line to potential customers: If basic communication and reliable work product is more important to you than a notable spokesman and a national ad campaign, I strongly recommend you look for someone besides Groundworks / Bay Area Underpinning for foundation stabilization and correction services. Besides the genuine efforts (and apologies) of Nick and Darren, our local Groundworks office seems to be ill managed and lacking in basic customer service skills. UPDATE 2026: In late 2025, new local Groundworks branch manager Ian Kee took the helm and things FINALLY turned around. We experienced MONUMENTAL improvement with both the issue of their communication/customer service and with their acceptance of responsibility for the foundation settling due to poor/improper workmanship by the now defunct Bay Area Underpinning (whom Groundworks absorbed), all thanks to a new, clearly defined leader at this location. Once management changed hands, Ian stepped up and ensured Alec and his team prioritized my project and the obvious issues I was experiencing. Alec's customer service skills were EXACTLY what you hope for in a customer-facing representative of your company, and the perfect experienced, high-energy problem solver I didn't expect (but appreciated) to turn this around. Alec responded out and immediately recognized the issues in my walls and floors, and due to the lack of poly under my slab following the lift in 2018. The poly crew was scheduled but unfortunately experienced an unavoidable equipment breakdown just before my date, pushing the schedule out a week, but once their rig was repaired the crew made quick work of the situation in a single morning. After the carpet was pulled out, they drilled a few strategic holes in my slab, pumped in the poly, and I watched all my settling issues disappear. The cracks in the walls closed up, and the creaking and popping of the wood ceiling/roof beams at night has ceased. As predicted by Alec, the poly was exactly what was needed to correct the conditons we experienced, and has proven to be the prevention for any further foundation movement for six months now. The confidence, expertise and professionalism shown by Alec and the poly injection crew was incredible, a complete 180 from the original experience. I am glad that we pushed through and everything was finally completed properly, it was a pleasure to work with these gentlemen and they are all a credit to Groundworks. I am very happy to be now able to highly recommend Ian and his crews to handle to all too frequent foundation correction needs of the Bay Area!

I called out groundworks because I noticed separation between my main load wall and ceiling. At first they gave me a quote for installing a sump pump and drainage systems as well as encapsulating the crawl space which was around 49k. I simply could not afford to do that so then they just gave me a quote for raising the house. I remember Justin, I believe his name was pointing out that there was bad floor joists under there and the beams were cutting into the wood. The main reason for the sinking was the soft soil underneath due to moisture getting under the house. I could only do what I could afford to do at the time which was raise the house. I wish I would have paid better attention to the contract though. I thought that estimate for 13k and some change included replacing the bad floor joists but it only included replacing the pillars. The foreman could only raise the house so much because the wood beam, which was good wood, was cutting into the bad floor joists. So the separation wasn't completely closed because if the foreman, Irving I believe his name was, raised it any higher the beam would just cut into the bad wood. They did close the gap a little but there is still a gap. I would imagine to get them back out here to replace the bad joists would be another 5 to 10 k. I assumed that raising the house and securing it would have included replacing the bad joists but I guess I was mistaken. I read through the contract and it only mentioned replacing the pillars. The work they did complete seems quality but I wish it would have included replacing the bad joists since that directly affected their ability to raise the house all the way.

After having three different waterproofing companies assess our basement we’re glad we chose BQ Basements & Concrete (Groundworks). Josh came out initially to inspect and was very well informed. He was able to answer all of our questions and explain the process and reasoning behind it very clearly. He also made himself available to answer any other questions that came up over the phone or texts. On the day of the work Steve (foreman), Pedro, Tim, and Chris arrived on time and got right to work. They took extra care to cover the few items we had in the basement and to keep dust from getting into the rest of the house. They started with some demo before working on the drain system. Steve was communicative and invited me to see their progress along the way. The crew was not only hardworking but respectful and friendly. They seemed quite efficient and finished when they said they would. They also did a great job cleaning up and left the basement cleaner than before they got there. This was the most well organized and efficient company that we encountered. Thanks to BQ Basements we now have the ease of mind of a waterproofed basement.

From the very beginning, he took the time to carefully assess everything and made sure no detail was overlooked. His knowledge really stood out — he clearly understands his field and was able to explain everything in a way that was easy to follow and understand. What we appreciated most was how clearly he walked us through each step. He answered all of our questions patiently and made sure we felt confident and informed before moving forward. On top of that, he was very friendly and professional, which made the experience comfortable and stress-free. Shayan was also punctual and respectful of our time, arriving exactly when scheduled and staying organized throughout the visit. I had a rent house come vacant and am in process of doing some repairs to get it ready to sell. I noticed some cracks in the stemwall on one side of the house. I contacted Groundworks to inspect it. A gentleman named Dylan came by and did a thorough inspection and gave me a proposal for peering the wall. I signed a contract and gave him a deposit. The next day he called me to inform me that it would be over two months out. I told him I had a problem with the timeline and he said he would see if anything could be done to shorten the lead time. In the meantime I contacted another company and they said they could do the work quickly and gave me a quote. Groundworks came back with a start date much quicker. The other company's proposal was much cheaper. Groundworks warranty and quality of product is very impressive but since I am selling the property keeping the cost down I important. If it were going to be my long term home I would have gone with them. The other company I chose was highly recommended. I would give Groundworks a 5 star rating. They are great to work with.

The second did not reach the desired height. They showed me in ground pics of the problem and why it would not lift. They then offered a substantial discount and still offered the same warranty. Had a wet basement. GROUNDWORKS came up first so I called. Zaire came out the next day and spent 90 minutes identifying the problem and designing a solution. I thought it was expensive so I spent the next week and a half getting two more bids. No one else was as responsive. Several ignored my request completely. Of the two that eventually made bids, one was twice as expensive and the other was three times as expensive. I can’t emphasize enough how great this experience has been. It’s all because of the people at GROUNDWORKS. Zaire got the solution designed very quickly. Cierra worked our job into their schedule the next day. Joshua, Chris, and Jimmy showed up on time and installed the water collection system with very little impact to our daily life. Joshua kept me informed at every stage of the installation, and it is a thing of beauty! We had 60 gallons of of groundwater running across our basement floor, and now it’s dry. Best contracting choice I have ever made was hiring Groundworks!

However, our house new (15-18 years old) extension kept sinking. So for us we ordered screw jacks. It’s still too new to know how well this will work but we do know Doors are already easier to operate The warranty is lifelong on the house And, the crew that installed it could in been more professional nor caring if our property. Big shout out to the foreman Silvino Hernandez and his amazing crew Alvin, Jorge, Antonio and Roberto. Thank you for easing our minds that this was the right direction for us.
